ONLINE & IN PERSON FUNCTIONAL NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

Understanding your body from the inside out

One of the most powerful tools in functional nutrition is advanced functional testing. These tests give us a detailed, objective view of what is happening inside your body, information that simply isn't available through standard doctor blood tests. Standard medical testing uses broad ranges to diagnose disease, whereas functional nutrition interprets blood markers using narrower ranges for optimal health. Testing is not always required, but where appropriate it can provide invaluable insight that allows us to tailor your nutrition plan with precision and confidence.

The types of testing we use

Gut Microbiome Analysis

A stool test that assesses the diversity and balance of your gut bacteria, identifies pathogenic organisms, evaluates digestive function, and measures markers of intestinal inflammation. This is the gold standard for understanding gut health and its impact on your wider wellbeing.

SIBO Breath Testing

A non-invasive breath test that detects the presence of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, a common and often overlooked cause of bloating, IBS symptoms, and nutritional deficiencies.

Comprehensive Hormone Panels

Dried urine or saliva testing to assess sex hormones (oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone), adrenal hormones (cortisol, DHEA) and their metabolites. These panels also map your daily cortisol rhythm, offering insight into how stress may be influencing your mood, sleep, energy and hormonal balance. Helpful for women navigating perimenopause, PCOS/PMOS, fertility concerns or persistent stress symptoms.

Thyroid Function Testing

A full thyroid panel including TSH, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies, providing a far more complete picture than TSH-only, typically offered with standard medical testing.

Genetic Testing

An at home finger prick blood-spot test that explores how your genes influence nutrient handling, detoxification pathways, inflammation and metabolic balance. This can offer clarity for those who experience variable results with typical functional nutrition strategies, helping tailor interventions more precisely to your biology.

Nutritional Status Testing

Blood or urine tests assessing levels of key vitamins and minerals including vitamin D, B12, iron, zinc, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids, helping to identify deficiencies that may be contributing to symptoms.

Blood Sugar & Metabolic Markers

Fasting glucose, HbA1c, insulin, and cholesterol profiles profiles to assess metabolic health and cardiovascular risk.

Organic Acids Testing (OAT)

A urine-based test providing insight into mitochondrial function, neurotransmitter metabolism, nutritional deficiencies, and gut dysbiosis markers, particularly useful for fatigue, mood disorders, and neurological symptoms.

Food Sensitivity Testing

IgG and IgA antibody panels that can identify immune reactions to specific foods, helping to guide a targeted elimination and reintroduction approach.
